Last year around 5500 tonnes of whale meat were brought in to Japan from the country’s “scientific” whaling operations. According to the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan had 4590 tonnes of whale meat in cold storage at the end of March this year.
