I cant stand it! I have to say something. Usually I dont like to argue politics, but on this occassion I think I would be an ungrateful Aussie if I didn’t.
What is wrong with you people that want to change government at this time? If something isn’t broken… don’t try & fix it! The public of Australia are reminding me of someone who reckons they can make a noisy motor sound quieter….. but end up with a whole pile of spare parts & the car refuses to start!!!
Aussies really have never had it so good!
- unemployment is down to 4%!!!
- there are signs in all the shops “help wanted”
- its cost over half a million to buy a normal basic house & ppl are still buying them
- we have some of the best technology in the world
- we’re excelling in everything internationally
- our youth are getting a dam good education & not having to leave school at as early ages
- trades have more work than they have workers to handle the jobs
- we are more wordly & terrorist aware
- we are more drug aware
- HECs & student loans dont have to be paid back until after a certain amount of income is earnt ($35,000 isn’t it?)
- parents are paid to either stay at home or childcare benefits so they can go to work
- we still get provided health care without having to produce a credit card first like most other countries
I just cant see the logic in wanting to change that!
I know it sounds corny to say & hear it… “but in my youth” we never had it that easy. To go on to school was a privilage & even then you had to work long hours to support yourself. When I had a child I had to pay so much for childcare, that it was almost better off being on a pension. There was no compulsary super payments. There was “no” a lot of things. And if my memory serves me right… unemployment was like 17%.

The current government dealt with all these issues, got praised, got critisized. The next govt will deal with similar issues, and they will get praised & get critisized. Shit happens… build a bridge… get over it. Tomorrow is still going to be there & we still have to have something stable to keep coming back to.
I’ve lived through a labor govt. I voted them in year after year with my Green vote. I hated the Liberal govt. Then I watched Labor slowly run our country into the ground with idealistic notions. We may not like practicality, but its what enables us to survive & live in the fashion to which we have become accustomed in recent years.
I’m not telling you who to vote for, because that is what makes us a democracy. However… I am asking that you evaluate a few more things than the propaganda machine is providing for you. It’s not who is the youngest, the best looking, the one with the best personality. It is the one who can run the country better. And even if it’s only for 1yr, 2yr, 3yrs…. don’t fix it… it aint broken!!
