Belize

colourful, vibrant & adventurous

As soon as I stepped off the plane, the warm tropical air welcomed me, and I couldn't wait to dive into the adventures that awaited. I kicked off my adventure by flying into Belize and hiring a Suzuki Jeep at the airport, all set for a drive out to San Ignacio.

Things got interesting pretty quickly. Out on the road, some old detour signs were still up, pointing us in all the wrong directions. Before we knew it, we were completely lost and almost found ourselves at the Mexico border ... in the middle of the night! Just when it seemed like we were totally on our own, a bus full of workers came by. They kindly pointed us back in the right direction and saved our trip. Definitely not the start we expected, but it’s stories like these that make travel unforgettable.

A visit to Xunantunich further deepened my connection to the past. Climbing to the top of the El Castillo pyramid, I was rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the lush jungle stretching out below. The sense of history and the beauty of the surroundings were simply overwhelming.

I headed to the coast and made my way to Caye Caulker, a slice of paradise that felt like a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I spent my final day basking in the sun on a pristine beach, the waves gently lapping at my feet.

Belize had given me an adventure of a lifetime, from jungle treks to underwater wonders. The warmth of the people, the richness of the culture, and the natural beauty left an indelible mark on my heart. I departed with a treasure trove of memories and a longing to return to this enchanting tropical paradise.
